Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre
The $29 million Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre was officially opened by the Premier Anna Bligh MP and the Mackay Mayor, Councillor Col Meng on Saturday 11 July 2009.
The new Centre offers north Queenslanders a local venue with world-class technology and state-of-the-art facilities including the latest audiovisual technology and world standard acoustic systems.
It includes many versatile spaces such as a 1090 seat theatre, a 100 seat studio space, two plenary halls which can seat up to 1800 people, and banqueting for up to 1000 people.
The Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre’s new and improved design is an impressive addition to the Mackay Civic Precinct - the cultural and commercial hub of the city.
The Convention Centre Project was funded by the Queensland Government through the Department of Public Works.
During construction, the department worked in conjunction with the Mackay Regional Council to complete the project, creating around 225 jobs for Queenslanders.
