Apprenticeships

The Department of Public Works provides apprenticeship training in a variety of trades including plumbing, carpentry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, glazing, painting, upholstery, joinery, signwriting, stonemasonry, polishing and wood machining.

QBuild, Public Works' minor works and maintenance arm, recruits once a year and currently employs 334 trade apprentices. Since 1998, the department has employed 1039 apprentices and trainees.

For more information on a QBuild apprenticeship contact Dave Henderson by email (david.henderson@qbuild.qld.gov.au) or fax on 07-3224 5061.

Other business units Goprint (the government printer) and QFleet (the government's vehicle fleet manager) also engage apprentices. Find out more about these apprenticeships by emailing apprenticeships@publicworks.qld.gov.au
