Mal Grierson

Mal Grierson was appointed Director-General of the Department of Public Works in October 1998.

Mal performs the role of designated Government Champion for the Indigenous community of Palm Island, along with Linda Apelt, Director-General of the Department of Communities.

In November 2008, the Department of Public Works was designated as the lead agency for whole-of-Government ICT and Mal, as Director-General, took on the additional role of Queensland Government Chief Information Officer.

During his career, Mal has had extensive involvement with the private sector in the areas of building construction and information and communication technology.

He has held a number of senior positions within government including Deputy Director-General, Government Services, Administrative Services Department; and Executive Director of CITEC.
