Natalie MacDonald
Associate Director-General

Natalie MacDonald was appointed as the Associate Director-General for the Department of Public Works on 5 May 2009. In this role, Natalie has responsibility for leading the whole of Queensland Government agenda for Information and Communication Technology and for driving efficiencies in all government ICT investment.

Prior to this appointment, Natalie was the Director-General of the Queensland Department of Housing, appointed in 2004. In this position, Natalie managed over 1,300 staff, an asset base worth around $13.5billion and an annual budget of $1.1 billion to deliver positive housing outcomes for Queenslanders for around 260,000 Queenslanders a year.

Natalie has over 20 years experience in the Commonwealth and State public sectors across many diverse fields, including law enforcement, international trade, employment and training, emergency services and housing. She has a Bachelor of Arts, a Masters of Business Administration and a Masters of Commerce (Professional Accounting). 

Natalie has previously served a two-year term as Director on the Board of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) and a three year term as a Board member of the Lady Bowen Trust, an organisation providing targeted financial support to people experiencing chronic homelessness. She is a Director on the Board of the State Public Sector Superannuation Scheme (QSuper).  

As the Government Champion for the Aboriginal community of Kowanyama, Natalie is committed to developing more effective relationships between government, business and community leaders to improve community engagement, development planning and social outcomes in this community. Natalie was previously the Government Champion for the Bamaga and Seisia communities for a number of years.
