Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan

The Australian Government’s Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan will deliver social housing and school programs throughout Queensland, providing opportunities and jobs in the Queensland construction industry.

Public Works Minister Robert Schwarten announced that in addition to the Queensland Government’s current substantial building program, $4 billion worth of building infrastructure projects will be procured by the Department of Public Works and delivered on behalf of the Department of Communities (Housing) and the Department of Education and Training.

Building consultants, building contractors, trade contractors and suppliers

Contractors, consultants and suppliers are sought to assist in the delivery of Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan programs.

Developers and their design and construction teams

The department is seeking property developers with proposals for the development and delivery of social housing projects. Regionally based developers are strongly encouraged to submit.

Public Works: $8.5 billion worth of infrastructure
Public Works will deliver thousands of jobs for Queenslanders as part of the Queensland Government's $18.2 billion building program in the 2009-10 State Budget.
